South Valley websiteLife Design is a transition class for students with disabilities in Jordan District. The class is held in the Jordan Applied Technology Center at the SLCC Jordan Campus. Students, parents, and staff work together to assist in plannning activities which will enable students to be more independent. During the first quarter, students are taught how to write a person centered plan and chose their IEP goals. Students lead their own IEP meeting.
Students are taught how to use public transportation, such as UTA busses and TRAX. Life Design staff train students from their homes on the busses, and ride with the students until they feel comfortable to ride on their own. Learning to get places independently is a very important skill, and gives the students tremendous self confidence.
